Discover San Francisco’s Pristine Beaches & Parks

North Beach, Golden Gate Park, and Angel Island

San Francisco is home to many beautiful parks and beaches. And while our beaches are not your typical sunbathing destinations, they are still beautiful places for walks, photos, bicycles, and more.

Golden Gate Park – Less than 3 miles from hotel

Stretching over 1,000 acres, Golden Gate Park is one of San Francisco’s most beloved parks and features several museums, including the newly-renovated California Academy of Sciences and the deYoung Museum of Art. As you venture into one of the first buildings in the park, you will encounter the Conservatory of Flowers, where you can browse through exotic-looking blooms. Or, venture to Strawberry Hill, the highest point in the park. Bring a pair of binoculars, a good book, a camera, or lunch to enhance your time at Strawberry Hill. Golden Gate Park is also a recreation center with playgrounds, tennis courts, a historic carousel, the Japanese Tea Garden, and a buffalo paddock. There are even Segway Tours to explore the park’s 1,000 areas!

North Beach – Less than 2 miles from hotel

More northeast in San Francisco, experience the vibrant, historic neighborhood of North Beach, home to an annual festival that features art and jazz. North Beach is also known as Little Italy, where visitors can savor Italian pastries, pastas, and cafes in its many restaurants. For a scenic attraction, North Beach features Washington Square Park, a tranquil expansion of green where guests can stretch out on the grass, lounge on a bench, and observe the locals walking their dogs. Other North Beach attractions include Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Coit Tower & Pioneer Park, Filbert Steps, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Columbus Tower/Sentinel Building, Beat Museum, Lyle Tuttle’s Tattoo Museum, and the North Beach Museum. Tip – avoid driving if possible, and try taking one of the three major bus lines (#15, #30 and #45) or two Cable Car lines that pass through the neighborhood.

Angel Island – 2 miles to Ferry Station

Angel Island State Park is a short ferry ride from San Francisco. The island is rich with California history and perfect for a family outing, a celebration, or a day away from the city. Here you’ll find the Angel Island Café and Angel Island Cantina, featuring fresh menus of soups, sandwiches, salads, snacks, drinks, beer, and wine. In addition, the Angel Island Company offers two hour guided tours of Angel Island aboard Segways or new Electric Mountain Scooters. For more active visitors, Angel Island offers a variety of hikes at various skill levels, where the beaches are secluded and absolutely beautiful.
